Excerpt | The paper describes an unpublished medal awarded to painter Ştefan Luchian in 1893 by the "Tinerimea Română" Society. There is also a short presentation of his life and work. Luchian was considered by the critics of art, the second great Romanian painter after Nicolae Grigorescu. The "Tinerimea Română" was a cultural society founded in Bucharest in the 19th century. It struck several medals awarded to some personalities: A. Thiers (1873). Gr. Tocilescu (1896). a.s.o. The medal given to Luchian was made by Carniol and the sculptor Filip Marin. The first artist belonged to a well-known company of engravers "Carniol & Son". Filip Marin was a sculptor that made some pictures too, as well as some medals. There is also a short presentation of his life and works. |
