Excerpt | The author presents a Greek Imperial coin discovered in 1980 during archaeological excavations at Sirna. Prahova county, in a 4th century settlement. The coin was issued by Philippus II (247-249) at Deultum, Thrace. The coin is pierced. This shows that it had been lost its monetary value being used as a piece of jewelry. Considering the archaeological material discovered there, the use of the coin as a jewelry could be dated approximately between the second half of the 3th century AD until the end of the 4th century AD. |
