Excerpt	The aim of this study is to present the evolution of the Romanian monetary system between 1918-1940. The author identified the consequences of the first World War on the monetary system and the effects of this major historical event. Starting from this thesis, he analyses the evolution of the payment systems, which were composed both of monetary and banking instruments.
