Excerpt The present study is intended to be a continuation of the presentation of the „Hoard Collection” of the Museum of Oltenia by introducing in the scientific circuit a batch of 37 gold coins purchased in 2018, which fall in the gap between 1840- 1945.
Most coins (20 pieces) are issues of the Habsburg Empire and later Austro-Hungarian Empire, with the effigies of the emperors Ferdinand I (1835-1848) and Franz Joseph (1848-1916), being denominations of 1 and 4 ducats, but also a coin of 20 francs / 8 forints.
Among the rarest coins are a 20-lire coin, issued in the name of Vittorio Emmanuel II, from 1851, as king of Sardinia and future unifier of the Kingdom of Italy, but especially the Romanian coins of 12.5 and 50 lei from 1906.
