Excerpt At the end of the 19th century and in the first half of the 20th century, several glass factories in Moldova implemented the system of paying a part of the salary, in the form of value tokens, a kind of internal currency. With the help of these tokens, the employees could purchase food, clothing or the necessary tools from the stores or the canteen of the factory and sometimes also from local merchants. Two series of tokens are known from the Maxut glass factory, one issued in 1903, when the company was called "Corona", and another series issued after the factory came under the management of the company "Stern Brothers and Lizorovici" in 1919.
The author presents two series of tokens and makes a brief history of the Maxut glass factory.
